Chiesa del Gesù

MONTEPULCIANO

In 1691 Giovan Battista Arrigoni (maybe, originally from Milan) began building the church following a Baroque style. Soon afterwards, it was renewed following Andrea Pozzo’s project. It was finally completed, around 1730, by the Sienese Sebastiano Cipriani. Antonio Colli, one of Pozzo’s pupils, painted the false architecture of the lateral altars inside and the frescoes on the small cupola. Worth of notice are also four stucco statues by the Sienese Bartolomeo Mazzuoli. In 1691 Giovan Battista Arrigoni (maybe, originally from Milan) began building the church following a Baroque style.
