Anciently in this place, there was a hospital, mentioned in 1272. In 1475 a church was built with the name of Santa Maria della Stella. It was destroyed in 1555 during the war with Siena; then it was restored in 1580 and named Church of Death. The main altar and the two lateral ones date back to 1580.Lately, it’s been dated 1958. The paintings “The Annunciation” attributed to Niccolò Betti (XVI century) and “The Holy Family” attributed to Galgano Perpignani (XVIII century), and the fresco “The Madonna of Peace”, attributed to Luca Signorelli, already placed on a wall of the Church of Peace and carried to this church in 1789, are presently in the Museum of the Cathedral.Anciently in this place, there was a hospital, mentioned in 1272.
