Santo Stefano
CHIUSI
The church, now closed for worship, was annexed to a monastery of Augustinian Nuns. In 1785 the Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo, changed it to a Conservatory for the education of young girls.
The church, originally medieval, was restructured during early 1800. It’s made up of a single nave with two lateral altars and a major altar, in painted stucco. The painting by Ulisse Gnocchi, “The Martyrdom of Saint Stephen” (1603), already placed on the major altar, is now located in the Church of Saint Francis. The church, now closed for worship, was annexed to a monastery of Augustinian Nuns.
