Chiesa del Santissimo Nome di Maria
CHIUSI
In 1586, where there once was a tabernacle with the image of a Madonna, called Querce al Pino, was built a church, first entrusted to the Franciscan monks and later entrusted to the Jesuits. It was restored and enlarged at the end of the XVIII century. During the last war, the primitive chapel was destroyed. The facade is made of brick, outlined in travertine; with a travertine portal and a bell tower with two bells.
The interior with a single nave, is embellished by two altars in the transept chapels. The major altar exhibits a Sienese style XVIIIth century painting with “ Madonna, Saint Mustiola, Saint Lawrence and other Saints “. The frescoes in the right transept represent “Saint Francis and Saint Girolamo praying” and “The Annunciation” and “The Holy Family” in the lunettes. In 1586, where there once was a tabernacle with the image of a Madonna, called Querce al Pino, was built a church, first entrusted to the Franciscan monks and later entrusted to the Jesuits.
