Palazzo Bucelli

MONTEPULCIANO

Descending Piazza Grande, on the right, at number 81, stands the Palace, that in 1700 became the location of the great collection of Etruscan pieces, “Palazzo Bucelli Montepulcianone”, pieces found around Montepulciano and Chiusi by the man of letters and antiquary Pietro Bucelli. At first, great part of the collection was handed over to Pietro Leopoldo Ist, then to the Grand Duke of Tuscany. Now, it’s preserved in Florence; only part of it is exhibited at the Civic Museum of Montepulciano. Characteristic is the palace base where stone fragments , cinerary urns and inscriptions are walled in. It’s a small open exhibit of Etruscan and Roman Art of the area.Descending Piazza Grande, on the right, at number 81, stands the Palace, that in 1700 became the location of the great collection of Etruscan pieces, “Palazzo Bucelli Montepulcianone”, pieces found around Montepulciano and Chiusi by the man of letters and antiquary Pietro Bucelli.
