Departing from Italy Square You'll find a short climb that takes us, without difficulty, to the Cross Amiata, you can now follow the instructions that will guide us to the summit of Mount Amiata. Once placed on the Cassia, we find a long flat stretch that serves as prologue to the long, steep climb that will meet immediately after Bagni San Filippo. We arrive at San Salvatore Abbey after a semi-flat, which allows us to catch our breath before "attacking" the Monte Amiata. The climb, about 18 km long, takes us beyond an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level is recommended, even in summer, to equip with a keyway or a light jacket as the country at the top of the mountain you can see a noticeable difference in temperature. For the return trip back down the same road, and virtually all downhill plain, take us back to the Val d'Orcia. Hence the challenging climb of La Foce, which brings us back to about 8 km in Chianciano.
